James Stewart, Chief Executive Officer & Chairman
After receiving his BSEE degree from the University of Mississippi in 1984, Mr. Stewart began a 22-year career with Schlumberger. During his career with Schlumberger, he held senior leadership positions across the globe. Mr. Stewart led operations in the USA, Europe, North Africa, West Africa, Russia, and CIS. During the course of his Schlumberger career, he has lived in the USA, Nigeria, Angola, Paris, and London.
In 2006, Mr. Stewart became Vice President of Integrated Drilling Services for Weatherford International based in London and Dubai where he created and managed a global business unit that included a 50-rig international land contract drilling group and a global project management team. This group operated in more than 10 countries with a primary focus on the Middle East and North Africa.
From July 2007 to end of 2009, Mr. Stewart served as the President and CEO of Foxxe—a privately held international land drilling company based in Houston, Texas, with primary operations in Mexico. Foxxe had six high-efficiency land drilling rigs contracted and grew to more than 200 employees. The company quickly became an industry leader in high-efficiency drilling in Mexico and was acquired at the end of 2009.
In March 2011, Mr. Stewart became the Chairman and CEO of Keane.
Gregory L. Powell, President & Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Powell joined Keane in March 2011 as Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to joining Keane, Mr. Powell worked as an Operating Executive for Cerberus Capital Management L.P. During his tenure, he was responsible for partnering with portfolio companies to maximize value creation. Mr. Powell has worked across a broad set of businesses including: automotive, consumer products, technology, leasing, building products, and retail.
Prior to joining Cerberus, Greg worked for 10 years in various divisions of General Electric. In his last role with GE, he was the Chief Financial Officer for GE Aviation – Military Systems.
Paul DeBonis, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. DeBonis started his oil and gas career with Dowell Services in the fracturing and cementing departments. He has worked in several basins throughout the US and Canada, including Rock Springs, Wyoming; Vernal, Utah; Commerce City, Colorado; Grand Prairie, Texas; Alberta, Canada; Denver, Colorado, and most recently Appalachia.
Mr. DeBonis has held several positions over his 29-year career, including the Oilfield Services Marketing Manager at Schlumberger, President of Pure Energy USA, President of Big Country Energy Services USA, and currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer for Keane.
Mr. DeBonis earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in management from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, in 1982. He was a Schlumberger Field Engineer Graduate in 1985. Mr. DeBonis has also authored and published two SPE papers focused on fracturing.
Kevin McDonald, Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary
Mr. McDonald has served as Keane’s Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary since November 2016. Prior to joining Keane, he served in leadership roles at Marathon Oil Corporation from 2012 to 2016, including as Deputy General Counsel of Corporate Legal Services and Government Relations, Deputy General Counsel of Governance, Compliance & Corporate Services, and Assistant General Counsel. He practiced as a partner at the international law firm Fulbright & Jaworski LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright LLP) in 2012. Mr. McDonald previously held various counsel positions, including President & Chief Executive Officer and acting General Counsel at Arms of Hope, a nonprofit organization, from 2008 to 2012, Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Cooper Industries between from 2006 to 2008, Associate General Counsel at Anadarko Petroleum from 2006 to 2008, and Managing Counsel (Litigation) at Valero Energy from 2002 to 2004. He began his career as an associate at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP between 1992 and 2001. Mr. McDonald graduated with a BS from Texas A&M University and JD from the University of Texas School of Law.
Paul Able, VP of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
Mr. Able was appointed Vice President of HSE in July 2017 after Keane closed the acquisition of RockPile Energy Services—where he was Vice President of Quality and HSE Affairs for more than 5 years. Prior to working for RockPile, Mr. Able built his career at Schlumberger where he served for 16 years in a variety of QHSE management roles across the United States. He brings strong management experience and expertise in various organizational development facets to the Keane executive management team.
Before transitioning to the oil and gas industry, Mr. Able gained extensive experience in operations and production management for companies focused on environmental risk mitigation and treatment.
Louis Wilpitz, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Mr. Wilpitz has served as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Keane since December 2016. He was promoted to this role from the position of District Manager—Permian Basin, having grown his career at Keane from his beginnings as an In-House Engineer in 2013. Prior to working for Keane, Mr. Wilpitz worked for Mission Well Services as a Field Engineer and later Technical Sales Engineer from 2011 to 2013. He began his work in oilfield services at Halliburton in 2010, where he served as a Frac Field Engineer in the Completions division. And Mr. Wilpitz gained his earliest oil and gas experience in leasing and acquisition of minerals, working as an associate landman.
Ian Henkes, Vice President of Human Resources
After receiving a BSME from Penn State, Mr. Henkes joined Schlumberger and worked for 22 years in various field, operations, sales, management, and HR positions around the world. Mr. Henkes has extensive experience in wireline, logging while drilling, and directional drilling operations in North America, Latin America, and northern Europe. He has also held multiple human resource assignments in North America and West Africa.
Mr. Henkes’s most recent assignments before joining Keane were at Schlumberger as Vice President PathFinder North America and before then as HR Manager for the Drilling & Measurements segment—a business made up of more than 12,000 employees.
